Vampires: Los MuertosDerek Bliss, played by Jon Bon Jovi, is a vampire hunter who has been called to Mexico to kill a pack of vampires.  Once he arrives there to pick up his team, he discovers that they have all been killed before he had the opportunity to join up with them.  Now he teams up with a preacher, a 15 year old, a guy with a shotgun, and a lady who was bitten by a vampire and could turn at any given moment.  Together they team up to take out this master vampire, who is a woman, and who wants to be able to walk in the daylight.

The movie has a rather interesting opener.  We see Derek Bliss rescuing a girl who is being attacked by a guy.  He points his gun towards the guy and tells him to back away.  The guy does and Derek then shoots a stake through the woman’s heart.  Soon, Derek is called to Mexico where he meets up with a group of preachers who want him to kill the vampires there.  They tell him that there are other vampire hunters who can help him, so they give him a list of names and he goes to find them.  On his way to find each one, he discovers that they have been murdered, as if the master vampire can see what Derek plans to do.  Upon trying to find the first hunter he was supposed to team up with, the locals tell him that the murderers went into a church to hide.  Derek waits until the sun comes up and goes in there after them.  He is followed by a 15 year old who wants to help be a vampire hunter.  They go into the church and stake the vampires.  Derek tells Sancho, the little boy, that he is too young to help him with his work.  Soon, Derek is in a bar and he meets a girl named Zoey.  She seems to know that he’s a hunter so he uses his thermometer and discovers that she was bitten.  Within moments of him stepping into the bathroom, the master vampire arrives and kills everyone inside the bar.  Derek heads back to the church to find everyone murdered there.  He teams up with the only survivor and is followed by Zoey and Sancho.  They team up together and soon meet a man named Ray.  Together they try and take on the master vampire.

I was actually a bit surprised by this film.  It has a nice amount of gore, but not nearly as much as the original.  James Woods from the first film is nowhere to be seen.  Instead we follow the singer, Jon Bon Jovi as he goes vampire hunting.  He actually did a good job in acting.  There were a few times in this movie where some of the characters didn’t have good acting, but it didn’t hurt the film as much as it sometimes would.  The movie still manages to entertain.  If you’re a fan of the original, you may want to check this one out.  I give this movie a 6 out of 10.
