In the machines first attempt to kill John Connor, they sent a Terminator to kill Sarah Connor in order to prevent John from being born. When it failed, they sent a new upgraded model to target John as a boy, but like before the humans sent a protector for John. John survived, and is now in his early 20’s. Now a new female terminator called the Terminatrix has been sent back in time to kill John Connor as well as his future generals. Like before, a T-800 model is also sent back in time to protect John Connor and his future wife Kate Brewster.
The year 1997 came and went, and nothing happened. John’s mother has died and since then John has been on the road. He doesn’t stay in one place for too long. John breaks into an animal clinic and steals some of the drugs inside. He soon finds Kate there who locks him inside a cage, thinking that he’s the one who has been breaking in. Meanwhile, a female terminator has been sent back through time with the mission to destroy John Connor, Kate Brewster, and the other people who are destined to be generals in John’s army. The Terminatrix targets a number of them and kills them quickly. It soon sets its sights on Kate Brewster and makes its way to the animal clinic. Meanwhile, another terminator has been sent back in time, played by Arnold Schwarzenegger. This one has been sent to protect John Connor and Kate Brewster. At the animal clinic, the Terminatrix starts to tear its way through the place in search for John and Kate. Soon, the T-800 arrives and manages to rescue John and Kate. Now, John and Kate with the help of this machine are on a mission of destroying Skynet and surviving this new terminator because they have three hours to prevent Judgment Day.
I consider The Terminator and Terminator 2 two of the best films ever made. The original was non-stop and very suspenseful. The people behind that film did wonders creating those special effects with a lower budget. When Terminator 2 came along, the same filmmakers made another film that pushed the limits of technology and is considered one of the best sequels, if not films of all time. It has been twelve years since Terminator 2 was released, and now the machines are starting to rise in a last hope to prevent the war from happening. With only three hours and counting down, this could be it if John and Kate can’t stop Skynet from taking over. Terminator 3 has a lot to live up to since it follows two of the greatest films ever created. Sadly, Terminator 3 doesn’t live up to the previous two. Throughout the film, it feels as if it’s missing something that gave the first two life. The acting is there. Arnold has really switched characters with this new terminator, and I think that was a good choice by the director since this is a different terminator. Nick Stahl does a great job as John Connor. It would have been interesting to see how Edward Furlong would have done, but I was very pleased with Nick’s performance. Claire Danes does great in her role as well from going to extremely terrified to someone who can take on a machine and walk away from it. Kristanna Loken does a great job playing the Terminatrix. Her portrayal of this new terminator reminded me of Robert Patrick’s character in Terminator 2, only she was much more advanced and a female. This new terminator proves to be the deadliest of them all as we see in the beginning as she goes door to door and just blows people away. Overall, this is a very well done action film, but it is missing something that the original two had. I have noticed that people have been complaining about the ending, but I personally really dug the ending. I think it was a perfect end for this film, and I do hope they make a Terminator 4. Overall, this is definitely a blockbuster of the summer and it comes highly recommended. Sadly, if you’re expecting another Terminator 2, you will be disappointed. For the third time around, it does deliver and is definitely an entertaining flick. I give it a 7 out of 10.
