Welcome to Camp Arawak! This is a nice little camp to spend the summer. It has everything from baseball to volleyball. As the children arrive to start off the summer, little Ricky has brought someone new to spend the summer at Camp Arawak, his cousin Angela. Angela is a quiet girl and tries to stick to herself, but the other campers won’t allow that. They will taunt and tease her. Now someone is killing off the campers and the counselors. Has Angela flipped out? Is Ricky tired of people picking on his cousin and is he taking revenge? Or is it someone else? All I know is that for some campers, this year at summer camp may very well be their last.
I had heard so much about this film. Most of what I had heard was from people saying they either loved or hated it, but everyone said there was a shocking ending that would make watching this movie worth it. Well even without the ending, I found myself really enjoying this film. It is a well made 80’s slasher that delivers. I won’t spoil the ending for you if you don’t already know it. Sadly I already knew how it was going to end and who the killer was. But surprisingly that didn’t bother me. I was still able to enjoy this little slasher. I had seen the sequel a long time ago, and I remember not liking it. I think it was because it was just too cheesy. This one is much darker and much better. There are good characters and there is some decent gore. Overall I really found myself enjoying this film and I think that you will too. Check this gem of a slasher from the 80’s out. You may be surprised at how good it is. I give this film a 7 out of 10.
