Five years ago the murders at Camp Arawak took place when an unhappy camper named Angela decided to kill everyone there. Well it’s been five years and a new camp, Camp Rolling Hills, is just getting ready for summer camp. Everyone is ready to have a good time, even the new camp counselor, Angela. Angela is back only this time instead of being a camper she’s a camp counselor and is ready to get back to doing what she does best, making sure the campers either have a good time, or find a way to give them a brutal death.
The movie opens with a group of campers sitting around a camp fire telling scary stories. One of them decides to tell the true story of what happened five years ago at Camp Arawak when a camper named Angela decided to kill everyone there. As she tells the story she gets caught by her camp counselor who says that she shouldn’t be out here scaring all these kids. The camp counselor brings the camper back to the camp, but on the way there we discover that this camp counselor is in fact Angela and Angela decides to cut out the camper’s tounge for her foul mouth. After this we meet all of our campers and we see how Angela gets made Counselor of the Week. When this happens we hear which is probably the scariest part of the movie, Angela sings. Later on more and more campers have a run in with Angela and the body count just continues to rise.
I remember seeing Sleepaway Camp 2 a very long time ago, and I really didn’t remember much of it. I decided to watch the original a couple of months ago and found myself enjoying it, so when they decided to release a box kit with the entire trilogy on DVD I decided to pick it up and see the sequels again. Though I haven’t watched part 3 yet, so I wouldn’t be able to compare this one to it. As for part 2, this one really wasn’t all that bad. Sure it has horrible acting and is very cheesy, but it’s also a pretty fun flick to watch. It’s not the best slasher of the 80’s, but it’s far from being the worst. I would recommend you checking this out for a rental if you’re in the mood for a good cheesy flick. It’s not as good as the original, and it’s really nothing like the original. The original seemed more serious and had a pretty messed up ending, as for this one if you’ve seen the original you know all about Angela, and this film expects you to know about Angela as well. Anyway, this is good rental for getting a group of people together and watching a cheesy horror flick. Check this one out. I give this movie a 6 out of 10.
