Since I didn’t get the chance to see Session 9 in theaters I had to wait for the DVD release. Well, it was worth the wait for the movie, now how did they do with the DVD? Well, there is a really good picture quality, except at the very beginning of the film there is a little bit of grain in the dark scenes. But overall the picture quality is really good. The surround sound on this DVD is also very good. There are some deleted scenes, but I really didn’t find them of much interest. There is also an alternate ending, though I didn’t like it very much. I like the way the film ended in the movie. The featurette, The Haunted Palace, is quite an interesting look behind the scenes, as well as the Story to Screen, which is another feature that brings you behind the scenes. There is also a director’s commentary, and I must say, watching the film with the director’s commentary on after viewing it once before is a really good idea. The director cleared up all my questions and pointed out quite a bit of clues that I never noticed before. Though I wouldn’t recommend anyone watching it with the commentary on first because he says the ending early on in the film. Overall, USA Home Entertainment really did a nice job with this DVD. If you’re a fan of the movie I recommend you checking this DVD out. If you haven’t yet seen the movie, you might as well either rent or buy the DVD because it is a really nice addition to one’s collection. I give this DVD a 7 out of 10.
