Re-AnimatorDr. Herbert West has discovered the secret of re-animating dead flesh.  He uses a green fluid and he injects into the dead body through the brain.  After doing this the dead come back to life as zombies.  Dr. West and Dr. Cain work together in this mad experiment of bringing the dead back to life; but their work is stolen by Dr. West’s instructor, Dr. Carl Hill.  As he tries to take Dr. West’s and Dr. Cain’s work Dr. West cuts off Dr. Hill’s head and re-animates Dr. Hill’s head and body separately.  Now Dr. Hill has stolen the green fluid and all of their work and is in the Morgue at the hospital bringing the dead back to life and it is up to Dr. West and Dr. Cain to stop him.

I had heard so much about this movie but I never got around to checking it out.  When I saw the DVD sitting on the shelf in the store, I figured I’d get it and check it out, and I was pleasantly surprised.  The film opens with a rather gory re-animation, and from there on the film is a complete fun ride.   It is filled with gore and humor that makes it all the more entertaining.   Jeffrey Combs was perfect for the role of Dr. West, he really brings the character alive.  He has that whole mad scientist look that made him perfect for the part.   I have heard people compare this film to the likes of Dead Alive, and I must say that I enjoyed this one far more.  The directing in this film is wonderful.   This is a cult classic and I can see why.  It is the perfect movie to watch late at night.  The movie is very original, and how could it not be with a talking head in a dish as the main villain?  This is a fun movie to watch and it’s filled with gore.  I highly recommend this cult classic.  I give it a 9 out of 10.
