The Fellowship of the Ring is the beginning of the epic three part trilogy of Lord of the Rings. A mystical ring has been lost for centuries and now, by fate, it has managed to find its way into the most unlikely of hands. A young hobbit named Frodo has just become the ring bearer of the mystical ring. This ring he has hold of is in fact the One Ring of the dark lord Sauron. Now young Frodo must keep the ring out of the wrong hands for the fate of the world depends on it. Now he goes on a quest to destroy the ring, only he isn’t alone. He has eight others to help him on his quest together they are the Fellowship of the Ring.
The movie opens with a great war. We hear of what happened to the ring as a war raged on and Sauron killed many. Soon Sauron was killed and the ring fell into the hands of a King. The ring ended up corrupting him and he couldn’t bring himself to destroy the ring. When the ring ends up being the death of him, the ring gets burried deep in a lake and never seen again for two thousand years. Soon the ring is found by a creature and for five hundred years the creature keeps the ring in its grasp only for the ring to drive it mad and it find its way into the hands of Bilbo Baggins. Bilbo keeps it for sixty years only to leave it in the hands of young Frodo. Soon as Frodo gets the ring he learns that Sauron has been reborn and his troops are after the ring and will kill whomever holds it. Frodo then sets out to get out of his quiet little town and destroy the ring. He goes with Gandalf, a wizard, and three of his hobbit friends. They soon team up with Aragorn and a couple of others and continue their quest of destroying the ring meanwhile going through battles with those who want to destroy them and end the world.
This is the three hour first part in the Lord of the Rings trilogy. We get a movie that has an amazingly well written script, great directing, and an extremely beautiful film to watch. The cinematography is beautiful, the battle scenes are full of action, and the creature effects are top notch. Peter Jackson has proven to horror fans that he is a great director, now he has had the chance to make a film that would appeal to more than just horror fans. I have never read the books so I wouldn’t know how closely he followed the books, but what I do know is that Peter Jackson has made a wonderful film and after viewing this first part I am looking forward to seeing what happens next to these characters in part two, and seeing the final chapter in part three. Anyway, if you’re a fan of the books check this movie out. If you’re a fan of Peter Jackson, check this movie out. If you’re just a fan of movies in general this one is sure to please. I give it a 9 out of 10.
