Earth is dead and the year is 2455. A professor takes his students on a field trip to the old Earth and they find two humans who have been frozen in time for over 400 years. The students take the two frozen humans and bring them onto their space ship. One of the frozen humans is the beautiful Rowan, and the other is the masked killer Jason Voorhees. Soon they are able to bring Rowan back, and Jason is also brought back. Now on a space ship far from home, they must try and survive before Jason kills them, one by one.
It has been over 400 years since Jason has killed anyone, 10 years since Jason Goes to Hell, and Jason is back to show that he hasn’t lost his touch. He kills someone every few minutes, this film is nonstop violence. Also, it is good to see that Jason has now finally taken over the lead in the body count. Originally that belonged to the killer from Friday the 13th part 5. Jason has waited 400 years to be the one with the highest body count, and he gets that in this one. In the process Jason takes a real beating though, and the result of that is Uber Jason. Many people thought that this wouldn’t be a good idea, but I acually enjoyed him as Uber Jason. For all you fans that want the classic Jason, he’s still the original Jason for most of the movie. We have seen Pinhead and the Leprechaun try to make it in space, and neither one of them were able to succeed, but when Jason tried, he succeeded. It may just be that it’s been so long since we’ve had a new Jason movie, but I really dug this film. I would place this one as one of my favorites along with part 6. I am sure many Jason fans will love this entry in the series as well, and in April 2002 you’ll have your chance to view this film in theaters. I have seen 2 horror films from 2002 and I think that 2002 is going to be a great year for horror. I give this movie an 8 out of 10.
