After their son dies in a traffic accident, Paul and Jessie Duncan are approached by a Dr. Wells who wants to clone Adam. After the new Adam reaches the same age in which the original Adam died, he starts to have night terrors that seem as if he’s remembering his past. However, it is possible that he is remembering something else as well. Now, as the night terrors get worse and worse, it appears as if Adam is becoming someone else entirely as his attitudes change and he starts to want to harm others.
The day after young Adam Duncan turned eight years old, he was involved in a tragic traffic accident where he was hit and killed by a car. On the day of his funeral, his parents, Jessie and Paul, were approached by Jessie’s old teacher, Dr. Richard Wells. Dr. Wells specializes in fertility, and wants to give Paul and Jessie a chance to have Adam back. By cloning, they are successfully able to bring a new Adam into this world. Now, as the cloned Adam reaches the age of eight, on the day after his birthday, he starts to have night terrors. His parents are wondering if he is remembering the past of the original Adam, or if it’s something else completely. Convinced that Dr. Wells is withholding information, Paul sets out to discover what is truly wrong with his son before his son becomes a deranged killer and harms himself, or the others around him.
Lion’s Gate has been advertising this film for what seems like a year now. And now, it has finally hit theaters. After it received a couple of negative reviews, I was wondering just how good this movie was going to be. The trailers didn’t make it seem scary, however the idea behind the movie was very interesting. So I decided to check the film out for myself, and needless to say, I was somewhat surprised by it. The acting was very good on the parts of Greg Kinnear, Rebecca Romijn-Stamos, and Robert De Niro. Also, the story was an interesting concept.
Now, that doesn’t mean that this film doesn’t have its faults. Those three actors mentioned earlier did an excellent job. Also, as I said about the story have an interesting concept, well it does however I felt that it wasn’t executed properly. I can’t go into too much detail as to why, because it would spoil the ending. However, it seemed as if parts of the film were rushed. Still, Godsend is an interesting film, and actually moves at a pretty fast pace. The acting was above par and it really helped to keep this film moving. Godsend is worth a rental, I give it a 6 out of 10.
