Paramount has done it again, they have released 2 more Friday the 13th DVD’s. This time they released parts 5 and 6, but right now I’m taking a look at part 5. Well, there’s something new about this release that wasn’t in previous releases of the other films in the Friday 13th DVD’s. Was it more features? Of course not, we still only get a trailer. The new thing is the cover art. I liked the original cover art on the VHS movies. This just doesn’t seem right. Oh well, there isn’t much I can do about that. The picture quality is pretty good, I didn’t notice really any grain. The sound quality is pretty good too. I do believe that they touched this picture and sound up better then they did for the first 4 releases. Anyway, I really don’t recommend this, unless you are just sick and tired of waiting on “if” there will ever be a special edition box set. I’m getting tired of waiting, but if you still want to wait, this year they are releasing parts 7 and 8 on DVD. So next year there won’t be any more movies to release on DVD in October, they’ve been releasing 2 a year every October for the past couple of years, so maybe we’ll see a box set on DVD? It’s possible and I hope there is one. The only way I’d recommend you buying these DVD’s is if you can find them at really low costs. 30 bucks for a bare bones release just isn’t worth it. A good picture quality and sound with the only feature a trailer just doesn’t cut it, we want those deleted scenes and some other extras! I give this DVD a 4 out of 10.
